Os dez leprosos.

16. Um dia, indo ele para Jerusalém, passava pelos confins da Samaria e da Galileia — e, estando prestes a entrar numa aldeia, dez leprosos vieram ao seu encontro e, conservando-se afastados, clamaram em altas vozes: Jesus, Senhor nosso, tem piedade de nós. — Dando com eles, disse-lhes Jesus: Ide mostrar-vos aos sacerdotes. Quando iam a caminho, ficaram curados. — Um deles, vendo-se curado, voltou sobre seus passos, glorificando a Deus em altas vozes; — e foi lançar-se aos pés de Jesus, com o rosto em terra, a lhe render graças. Esse era samaritano. — Disse então Jesus: Não foram curados todos dez? Onde estão os outros nove? — Nenhum deles houve que voltasse e glorificasse a Deus, a não ser este estrangeiro? — E disse a esse: Levanta-te; vai; tua fé te salvou. (S. Lucas, 17:11–19.)

17. Os samaritanos eram cismáticos, mais ou menos como os protestantes com relação aos católicos, e os judeus os tinham em desprezo, como heréticos. Curando indistintamente os judeus e os samaritanos, dava Jesus, ao mesmo tempo, uma lição e um exemplo de tolerância; e fazendo ressaltar que só o samaritano voltara a glorificar a Deus, mostrava que havia nele maior soma de verdadeira fé e de reconhecimento, do que nos que se diziam ortodoxos. Acrescentando: “Tua fé te salvou”, fez ver que Deus considera o que há no âmago do coração e não a forma exterior da adoração. Entretanto, também os outros tinham sido curados. Fora mister que tal se verificasse, para que ele pudesse dar a lição que tinha em vista e tornar-lhes evidente a ingratidão. Quem sabe, porém, o que daí lhes haja resultado; quem sabe se eles terão se beneficiado da graça que lhes foi concedida? Dizendo ao samaritano: “Tua fé te salvou”, dá Jesus a entender que o mesmo não aconteceu aos outros.

Ten Healed of Leprosy

16. Now on his way to Jerusalem, Jesus traveled along the border between Samaria and Galilee. As he was going into a village, ten men who had leprosy met him. They stood at a distance and called out in a loud voice, “Jesus, Master, have pity on us!” When he saw them, he said, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went, they were cleansed. One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. He threw himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked him - and he was a Samaritan. Jesus asked, “Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? Was no one found to return and give praise to God except this foreigner?” Then he said to him, “Rise and go; your faith has made you well.” (Luke, 17: 11 to 19).

17. The Samaritans were schismatic, as Protestants stand in regard to Catholics, and despised by the Jews as heretics. Jesus, by curing indiscriminately the Samaritans and the Jews, gave at the same time a lesson and an example of tolerance; and, by showing that the Samaritan alone returned to give glory to God, it proved that there was in him more true faith and gratitude than with those who were called orthodox. By saying: “Your faith has made you well,” he shows that God regards the feeling of the heart, and not the exterior form of adoration. However, the others have been cured; it was necessary for the lesson which he wished to give, and to prove their ingratitude. But who knows the result of it, and if they have profited by the favor which was accorded them? By saying to the Samaritan: “Your faith has made you well,” Jesus gives us to understand that it will not be the same with the others.

16. – Однажды, идя в Иерусалим, Он проходил между Самарией и Галилеей, - когда входил Он в одно селение, встретили Его десять прокажённых; остановившись невдалеке, они громким голосом говорили: Иисус, Учитель наш, помилуй нас. - Увидев их, Он сказал им: Идите, покажитесь священникам. 17. – Самаритяне были раскольниками, примерно как протестанты по отношению к католикам, и презираемы евреями, как еретики. Иисус, исцеляя без различия самаритян и евреев, давал в то же время урок и пример терпимости; показав, что один только самаритянин вернулся воздать славу Богу, он показал, что в нём больше истинной веры и чувства благодарности, чем у тех, которые называли себя правоверными. Прибавив: «Твоя вера спасла тебя», он хочет показать, что Бог смотрит в глубину сердца, а не на внешнюю форму почитания Его. Тем не менее, и прочие были исцелены, это нужно было для того урока, который он хотел преподать и показать в то же время их неблагодарность; но как знать, что могло выйти из этого, и воспользовались ли они той милостью, которая была им дарована? Сказав самаритянину: «Твоя вера спасла тебя», Христос даёт понять, что этого не будет по отношению к другим.

16. – Kaj dum ili vojiris al Jerusalem, li trapasis tra la mezo de Samario kaj de Galileo. – Kaj kiam ili eniris en unu vilaĝon, renkontis lin dek lepruloj, kiuj staris malproksime; – kaj ili levis sian voĉon, dirante: Jesuo, estro, kompatu nin. – Kaj vidinte ilin, li diris al ili: Iru, kaj montru vin al la pastroj. 17. – La samarianoj estis skismuloj, iel simile al protestantoj en rilato al katolikoj, kaj la judoj ilin malŝatis kiel herezulojn. Sendistinge resanigante samarianojn kaj judojn, Jesuo samtempe donis lecionon kaj ekzemplon de toleremo; kaj reliefigante, ke nur la samariano revenis por doni gloron al Dio, li montris, ke en li estas pli da vera fido kaj da vera danko ol ĉe tiuj, kiuj sin prezentis kiel ortodoksuloj. Aldonante: “Via fido vin savis”, li vidigas, ke Dio rigardas la fundon de la koro, ne la eksteran formon de adorado.
