1010. El dogma de la resurrección de la carne ¿consagra al de la reencarnación que los Espíritus enseñan?

- ¿Cómo queréis que sea de otro modo? Sucede con estas palabras, como con tantas otras, que sólo parecen desprovistas de razón, a los ojos de ciertas personas, porque se las toma al pie de la letra, de ahí que conduzcan a la incredulidad. Pero dadles una interpretación lógica, y aquellos a quienes denomináis librepensadores las admitirán sin dificultad, precisamente porque entonces reflexionan. Pues no os engañéis: esos librepensadores sólo anhelan poder creer. Como los otros –y quizá más aún-, sienten sed de porvenir, pero no pueden admitir aquello que sea conceptuado falso por la ciencia. La doctrina de la pluralidad de vidas es conforme a la justicia de Dios. Sólo ella está en condiciones de explicar lo que, de no ser así, permanecería sin explicación. ¿Cómo querríais que su principio no residiera en la religión misma?

1010 a. De manera que la Iglesia, con el dogma de la resurrección de la carne ¿enseña también la doctrina de la reencarnación?

 - Salta a la vista. Esa doctrina es, por lo demás, el resultado de muchas cosas que han pasado inadvertidas y que no se tardará en comprender en tal sentido. Muy pronto se reconocerá que el Espiritismo surge a cada paso en el texto de la Sagrada Escritura. De manera que los Espíritus no vienen a derribar la religión, como algunos pretenden. Antes al contrario, acuden a confirmarla, a sancionarla por medio de pruebas irrefutables. Pero, como han llegado los tiempos en que no se ha de utilizar más el lenguaje figurado, aquéllos se expresan sin alegorías y dan a las cosas un sentido claro y preciso que no pueda estar sujeto a ninguna falsa interpretación. Ved aquí por qué, dentro de poco, tendréis más personas sinceramente religiosas y creyentes que las que existen en la hora actual. - SAN LUIS.

1010. Is the doctrine of the resurrection of tile body an implication of that of that of reincarnation, as now taught by spirits?

How could it be otherwise? It is with regard to that expression as to so many others, that only appear unreasonable because they are taken literally, and are thus placed beyond the pale of credibility; let them only be rationally explained, and those whom you call free-thinkers will admit them without difficulty, precisely because they are accustomed to reflect. Freethinkers, like the rest of the world, perhaps even more than others, thirst for a future; they ask nothing better than to believe, but they cannot admit what is disproved by science. The doctrine of the plurality of existences is conformable with the justice of God it alone can explain what, without it, is inexplicable; how can you doubt, then, that its principle is to be found in all religions?

1011. The Church, then, in the dogma of the resurrection of the body, really teaches the doctrine of reincarnation?

That is evident; but it will soon be seen that reincarnation is implied in every part of Holy Writ. Spirits, therefore, do not come to overthrow religion, as is sometimes asserted; they come, On the contrary, to confirm and sanction it by irrefragable proofs. But, as the time has arrived to renounce the use of figurative language, they speak without allegories, and give to every statement a clear and precise meaning that obviates all danger of false interpretation. For this reason there will be, ere long, a greater number of persons sincerely religious and really believing than are to be found at the present day. - St. Louis.
