OS TRÊS CEGOS (PARÁBOLA)
Um homem rico e
generoso, que é coisa rara, encontrou em seu caminho três infelizes cegos,
exaustos de fome e de fadiga. Ofereceu a cada um uma moeda de ouro. O primeiro,
cego de nascença, amargurado pela miséria, nem mesmo abriu a mão. Jamais tinha
visto, dizia ele, oferecer-se ouro a um mendigo. Isto era impossível.
O segundo
estendeu maquinalmente a mão, mas logo repeliu a oferta que lhe faziam. Como
seu amigo, considerava aquilo uma ilusão ou uma brincadeira de mau gosto. Numa
palavra, para ele a moeda era falsa.
Ao contrário, o
terceiro, cheio de fé em Deus e de inteligência, em quem o fino tato havia
parcialmente substituído o sentido que lhe faltava, tomou a moeda, apalpou-a,
levantou-se e, abençoando o benfeitor, partiu para a cidade vizinha, a fim de
adquirir o que faltava à sua existência.
Os homens são os

AVEUGLES (PARABOLE)
Un homme riche
et généreux, ce qui est rare, rencontra sur sa route trois malheureux aveugles
épuisés de faim et de fatigue ; il leur présenta à chacun une pièce d'or. Le
premier, aveugle de naissance, aigri par la misère, n'ouvrit même pas la main ;
il n'avait jamais vu, disait-il, qu'on eût offert de l'or à un mendiant : la
chose était impossible. Le second tendit machinalement la main, mais rejeta
aussitôt l'offrande qu'on lui faisait ; comme son ami il la considérait comme
une illusion ou l'oeuvre d'un mauvais plaisant : en un mot, selon lui, la pièce
était fausse. Le troisième, au contraire, plein de foi en Dieu et
d'intelligence, en qui la finesse du tact avait en partie remplacé le sens qui
lui manquait, prit la pièce, la palpa, et se levant, en bénissant son
bienfaiteur, partit vers la ville voisine pour se procurer ce qui manquait à
son existence.
Les hommes sont
les aveugles ; le Spiritisme est l'or ; jugez de l'arbre par ses fruits. - LUC.
HE THREE BLINDS
(PARABLE)
A wealthy and
generous man, a rare thing, found three unfortunate blind men in his way,
exhausted by hunger and fatigue. He offered a golden coin to each one. The
first one, blind since birth, acrimonious for his misery, did not even open his
hand. He had never seen, he said, someone giving a golden coin to a blind
person. That was impossible.
The second one
mechanically extended his hand but he soon repelled the offer that was made.
Like his friend, he thought it was an illusion or a bad taste joke. In short,
the coin was also false to him.
The third one,
on the contrary, full of faith in God and intelligence, who had partially
replaced the missing sense by an accurate tactile sensitivity, took the coin,
touched it, stood up and praising the benefactor he left to the neighboring
town, in order to acquire what was lacking in his life.
People are the
blinds. Spiritism is the golden coin. Judge the tree by its fruits. – Luc.
