55. São
habitados todos os globos que se movem no espaço?
“Sim e o homem
terreno está longe de ser, como supõe, o primeiro em inteligência, em bondade e
em perfeição. Entretanto, há homens que se têm por espíritos muito fortes e que
imaginam pertencer a este pequenino globo o privilégio de conter seres
racionais. Orgulho e vaidade! Julgam que só para eles criou Deus o Universo.”
Deus povoou de
seres vivos os mundos, concorrendo todos esses seres para o objetivo final da
Providência. Acreditar que só os haja no planeta que habitamos seria duvidar da
sabedoria de Deus, que não fez coisa alguma inútil. Certo, a esses mundos há de
ele ter dado uma destinação mais séria do que a de nos recrearem a vista.
Aliás, nada há, nem na posição, nem no volume, nem na constituição física da
Terra, que possa induzir à suposição de que apenas ela goze do privilégio de
ser habitada, com exclusão de tantos milhares de mundos semelhantes.
56. É a mesma a
constituição física dos diferentes globos?
“Não; de modo
algum se assemelham.”
57. Não sendo
uma só para todos a constituição física dos mundos, seguir-se-á tenham
organizações diferentes os seres que os habitam?
“Sem dúvida, do
mesmo modo que no vosso os peixes são feitos para viver na água e os pássaros
no ar.”
58. Os mundos
mais afastados do Sol estarão privados de luz e calor, por motivo de esse astro
se lhes mostrar apenas com a aparência de uma estrela?
“Pensais então
que não há outras fontes de luz e calor além do Sol e em nenhuma conta tendes a
eletricidade que, em certos mundos, desempenha um papel que desconheceis e bem
mais importante do que o que lhe cabe desempenhar na Terra? Ademais, não
dissemos que todos os seres são feitos de igual matéria que vós outros e com
órgãos de conformação idêntica à dos vossos.”
As condições de
existência dos seres que habitam os diferentes mundos hão de ser adequadas ao
meio em que lhes cumpre viver. Se jamais houvéramos visto peixes, não
compreenderíamos pudesse haver seres que vivessem dentro d’água. Assim acontece
com relação aos outros mundos, que sem dúvida contêm elementos que
desconhecemos. Não vemos na Terra as longas noites polares iluminadas pela
eletricidade das auroras boreais? Que há de impossível em ser a eletricidade,
nalguns mundos, mais abundante do que na Terra e desempenhar neles uma função
de ordem geral, cujos efeitos não podemos compreender? Bem pode suceder,
portanto, que esses mundos tragam em si mesmos as fontes de calor e de luz
necessárias a seus habitantes.

55. Are all the
planets that revolve in space inhabited?
“Yes and the
people on Earth are far from being the leaders in intelligence, goodness, and
general development – despite what they may believe. There are many people who
have such a high opinion of themselves, and even believe that your little world
alone has the privilege of being inhabited by intelligent beings. What an
arrogant thought! They believe that God has created the universe only for
them.”
God has
populated planets with living beings, all of which have a role in the ultimate
Divine plan. Believing that living beings are confned to the one point of the
universe inhabited by us casts doubt on God’s wisdom. God has done nothing in
vain, and must have assigned a purpose to every other world that is more
important than merely serving as a lovely backdrop for our planet. Furthermore,
there is nothing in the position, size, or physical makeup of Earth that
warrants the assumption that it alone, of the thousands of planets in space,
has the privilege of being inhabited.
56. Do all
planets have the same physical constitution?
“No, they do not
resemble one another at all.”
57. As the
physical constitution of the various planets is not the same for all, do the
beings inhabiting those worlds have a different type of body and physical
makeup?
“Of course, just
as fsh in your world are designed for living in water and birds for the air.”
58. Are the
planets farthest removed from the sun deprived of light and heat, since the sun
only appears to be a tiny star to them?
“Are you
assuming that there are no other sources of light and heat than the sun? Are
you completely dismissing electricity which, in some worlds, plays a role
unknown to you and which is much more important than the role it plays on
Earth? Besides, how do you know that the beings of those worlds see the same
way you do, with organs like yours?”
The conditions
of existence for the beings inhabiting different worlds must be adapted to the
world in which they are destined to live. If we had never seen fsh, we would
not be able to comprehend how any living being could survive in water. This
same idea applies to all the other worlds, which most likely contain elements
that are unknown to us. On our own planet, the long polar nights are
illuminated by the electrical displays of the aurora borealis, commonly called
the northern lights. Is it impossible to imagine that electricity may be more
abundant in other worlds compared to ours, and play a role that we cannot even
fathom? According to this argument, those worlds could contain different
sources of heat and light required by their inhabitants.

globoj, cirkulantaj en la spaco, estas loĝataj?
“Jes, kaj la

opinias, ke Dio kreis la universon nur kaj sole por ili!”
Dio loĝatigis la
mondojn per vivaj estaĵoj, kiuj ĉiuj kunhelpas al la plenumado de Liaj
providencaj projektoj.
Kredi, ke la vivaj
estaĵoj estus limigitaj tie, kie ni loĝas en la universo, estus dubi pri la Dia
saĝeco, kiu nenion faras senutilan. Dio destinis tiujn mondojn al celo pli
serioza ol simpla amuzo por niaj okuloj. Krom tio, nenio pravigas, ĉu pro la
pozicio, la amplekso aŭ la fizika strukturo de la Tero, la supozon, ke nur la
Tero havas la privilegion esti loĝata, kun escepto de miloj da similaj mondoj.
56. Ĉu la fizika
strukturo de la globoj estas la sama?
“Ne; ili neniom
similas unuj al la aliaj.”
57. Se la fizika
strukturo de la mondoj ne estas la sama, ĉu do sekvas, ke la estaĵoj, tie
vivantaj, havas malsamajn fiziologiajn organizaĵojn?
“Sendube, same
kiel viaj fiŝoj estas faritaj por vivi en la akvo, kaj la birdoj en la aero.”
58. Ĉu al la
mondoj plej malproksimaj de la suno mankas lumo kaj varmo, ĉar la suno sin
montras al ili kun aspekto de negrava stelo?
“Ĉu vi do
kredas, ke ekzistas neniaj fontoj de lumo kaj varmo krom la suno? Ĉu neniom
valoras la elektro, kiu, en iuj mondoj, ludas rolon de vi nekonatan, multe pli
gravan ol sur la Tero?
Cetere, ni ne
diris, ke ĉiuj estaĵoj havas tian saman organismon, kiel vi, aŭ ke ili posedas
organojn egalajn al la viaj.”
La kondiĉo de
ekzistado de la estaĵoj, loĝantaj la plurajn mondojn, devas konformiĝi al la
medio, kien tiuj estaĵoj estas vokataj por vivi. Se ni estus neniam vidintaj fiŝojn,
ni ne komprenus, kiel iu estaĵo povus vivi en akvo. Tio sama okazas al la
ceteraj mondoj, sendube posedantaj elementojn de ni nekonatajn. Ĉu ni ne vidas,
sur la Tero, la longajn polusajn noktojn, lumigatajn de la elektro de la nordaj
aŭroroj?
Ĉu ne estus ja
eble, ke en iuj mondoj la elektro abundas pli ol sur la Tero, kaj ke ĝi tie
havas ĝeneralan agadon, kies efikojn ni ne komprenas? Tiuj mondoj povas do havi
en si mem la fontojn de lumo kaj varmo, necesajn al tieaj loĝantoj.
